Oracle Founder Larry Ellison: ‘Austin is one of the key places we want to be’

In a recent statement, Oracle founder Larry Ellison predicted that Austin’s Oracle campus will increase to as many as 10,000 employees in the next few years, as Oracle has big plans and Austin is where he believes “our people want to be.”

The Austin Oracle campus is a fairly new 560,000 square foot waterfront building that was opened in January on Lady Bird Lake. In its first few months, it already harbors more than 2,000 employees.

Oracle bought 43 acres, which includes the property and an adjacent 295-unit apartment complex under construction. The latter will be a housing option for employees.

“We bought all this real estate and we’re not done yet. We think this is a phenomenal facility to house fantastic people that hopefully will come to Oracle whether they are experienced or right out of college and be able to develop their careers, learn new technologies and grow as the company grows.”

An integral reason for Oracle’s activity and growth in Austin is to attract, hire and train the best talent, which they believe is highly accessible in Texas’ capital. The campus will be an impressive site as it strives to cater to employees and create a comfortable and inviting environment.

Some of the features include, “veranda views of the lake, an onsite full-service cafeteria, gym and free parking for its employees. On-campus amenities include a food truck court, expansive business training and conference center, game rooms on every floor, terraces and outdoor collaboration areas.” In addition to this already lengthy list, beach volleyball and basketball courts, as well as access to Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail will be available.
